Greg has more than 40 years of hands-on experience in the design and testing of Active Fall Protection Systems. With over 3 decades of active participation, writing and chairing of CSA Z259 and ANSI Z359 STANDARDS in CANADA and the UNITED STATES. Greg’s fingerprints are deeply hidden in the technical content of these standards. His key contributions include significant leadership and technical development of the first and subsequent editions of Canadian and American standards for “Design of Active Fall Protection Systems” Horizontal Lifelines”, and “Anchorage Connectors”, with lesser, but nonetheless important contributions to many of the other standards.
Greg has a deep technical and historical understanding of how fall protection works. He is uniquely able to explain why things are (or could or should) be done in particular ways, to help us understand when and why we need to change.
Now that Greg is semi-retired, he is either enjoying vacations with his wife, Milena, or earning money for his next trip by teaching “Qualified Fall Protection Engineer” and the new “Qualified Fall Protection Specialist” courses or serving as a forensic investigator and expert witness.
______________
Greg has been an integral part of the Ballantyne Gear team since 2011, after meeting Flent Ballantyne at an ANSI Z359 fall protection committee meeting. Greg supervised quality control and certifications of the Ballantyne Gear Eveook sloped roof work and fall protection system to the ANSI Z359.6 and CSA Z259.16 fall protection standards.
Greg worked with Ballantyne Gear to create a fall protection system that includes benefits that are often lacking in sloped roof fall protection. Our collaboration brought forth many critical improvements to business owners that care about their people and their business.
Improvements such as:
  • protected installers
  • prevention of swing falls by using a horizontal fall protection system instead of vertical
  • fall protection on the ladder, from the ladder to the roof, and of course, on the roof
  • roofs are not damaged with nails or screws
  • workers prefer the system because it offers real fall protection and makes their work easier.
We hope to see you at ASSP Safety Conference.
